II. Mandatory information on goods imported into Vietnam

Pursuant to Clause 2, Article 10 of Decree 43/2017/ND-CP, amended by Clause 5, Article 1 of Decree 111/2021/ND-CP, there are regulations on mandatory content on goods labels as follows:

Original labels of goods imported into Vietnam are required to display the following contents in a foreign language or Vietnamese when carrying out customs clearance procedures:

• Name of goods: The name of the goods must be a name that accurately reflects the nature and uses of the goods. For products with applicable technical regulations or published standards, the product name must match the name in that standard.

• Origin of goods: Must clearly state the country or territory where the goods are produced or processed. If the goods have many stages of production in different countries, write down the place where the final stage is carried out to complete the goods according to the provisions of Clause 3, Article 15 of Decree 43/2017/ND-CP. 

• Name or abbreviation of the manufacturing organization or individual or the organization or individual responsible for the goods abroad.

In case the original label of the goods does not show the full name and address of the manufacturing organization or individual or the organization or individual responsible for the goods abroad, these contents must be fully shown in the label. documents accompanying the goods;

For goods imported into Vietnam with original labels in foreign languages, after carrying out customs clearance procedures and transferring them to the warehouse, importing organizations and individuals must supplement the goods labels written in foreign languages. Vietnam according to regulations before putting goods into circulation in the Vietnamese market.

III. Regulations on penalties for violations of goods labels

According to Decree No. 119/2017/ND-CP on sanctions for administrative violations in the field of standards, measurement, and product quality, violations of regulations on goods labels can be punished. fines, confiscation of goods, or forced recalls to add appropriate labels.
