SOME REVISION OF LAW ON ENTRY AND EXIT OF VIETNAMESE CITIZENS

Main contents
– Accordingly, amending 13 articles, clauses of the Law on Entry and exit of Vietnamese citizens 2019; focus on completing the regulations on administrative procedure of immigration management online (implementing the form of submitting documents online for applying ordinary passport, reporting the loss of ordinary passport online, the file the papers online to request regular passport, restoring the use value of ordinary passports).
– Abolish the regulation on submitting a photocopy of the ID card or citizen identification card in case there is a change in personal information compared to the information in the most recently issued passport and abolish the regulation on submitting a copy. Birth certificate or birth extract for people under 14 years old who have been issued a personal identification number.
– Supplementing “place of birth” information on immigration documents; Amend regulations on cases, orders, and procedures for granting ordinary passports according to simplified procedures in the direction of expanding subjects eligible for ordinary passports according to simplified procedures, regulations on procedures for granting passports according to summary procedures in some especially urgent cases.
– Added regulations on canceling the validity of ordinary passports in cases where a passport has been issued but does not come to receive the results, and at the same time stipulates that a valid passport is eligible for exit (remove the regulation that the remaining validity of the passport is 6 months or more to create favorable conditions for citizens when leaving the country).
– In particular, the Law also amends some regulations to continue to create more favorable conditions for foreigners to enter and exit Vietnam. Accordingly, the duration of electronic visas will be increased from 30 days to 3 months, valid once or multiple times; Expanding the issuance of electronic visas to citizens of all countries and territories (127/NQ-CP dated 14/08/2023)
Besides, raise the time limit to increase the temporary residence period from 15 days to 45 days for citizens of countries that are unilaterally exempted from visas by Vietnam and are considered for visa issuance and temporary residence extension according to other regulations…
